Actually, the scar tissue from abdominal surgery can last a lifetime. They are called adhesions. The problem is, you shouldn't really have enough adhesions from an appy that you continue to experience pain. I say that uming you had a laproscopic surgery with no complications, though. If they had to open you up, or if you had a ruptured appendix, the likelihood of forming adhesions would definitely increase.
